Making time

As an aspiring Art Director, it is important to find effective ways to organize your time. For me, it has been difficult figuring out how much time needs to be allocating to a project in order to make a high quality campaign.

Here are a couple ways I’ve found have helped me use my time more efficiently.

  1. Write everything down! As someone who forgets easily I’ve found writing what projects need to be completed.
  2. Write evvvvvvvvvverything down. This includes the individual components of the task. For example,

3. Schedule time to work on project.

from 4pm-5pm find images for Hershey campaign

4. Stick to your schedule! This will all be useless if you are not willing to hold yourself accountable and stick to what you have laid out.

Dumb Ways Campaign

As an aspiring Art Director, professors and industry people have emphasis the importance of looking at other ads. I’ve found it has been valuable to see other work and the unique ways agency approach different campaigns.

Not many advertisements can include a catchy song, cute characters, and a very dark topic to a full campaign. Dumb Ways to die took all these elements to make a successful campaign. This campaign included plush toys, print advertisements, and its own mobile app.

The ad is in the link below. Take the quiz to see which agency did the campaign.

The value of linears

Throughout my time in the Advertising and Graphic Design program provided me the opportunity to understand the value of the idea process. One professor would consistently talk about the values of creating linear so you are able to make awesome work!

As a result, I was motivated to do this campaign for Awake chocolate. Linear after linear helped me figure out how best to convey the benefits of this brand in a fun and interesting way.
